- Worldwide numbers: The novel coronavirus has infected more than 3.2 million people and killed at least 227,000, according to Johns Hopkins University.
- In the US: More than 1 million Covid-19 cases have been recorded, and nearly 61,000 deaths.
- Plans to reopen: At least 31 US states will partially reopen by the end of the week. Other countries are also gradually loosening restrictions, including France, Switzerland, Greece, India and China.
- Breaking chain: South Korea, which saw the first major outbreak outside China, recorded no new locally transmitted cases for the first time in 72 days.
