在10月13日北京四通桥抗议横幅事件后，当局在各大立交桥紧急部署了“看桥员”，以防范类似事件再次发生。

从13日晚到14日，不少网民在社交媒体分享图片，显示有身着印有“中国民兵”、“志愿者”字样的守卫，在立交桥上站岗或附近驻扎。
