多伦多市议会批准市长的分租屋合法计划

多伦多市议会周三批准了一项全面的住房计划，将显著改变分区附例，以解决住房危机。

市议会的26位议员中有23人投票赞成了多伦多市长庄德利的提议，允许在目前仅限独户住宅的社区建造多单元住房。

市议会还以18-8的投票结果，支持在全市范围内，而不仅仅是部分地区，将分租屋合法化。

现在，城市经理必须在明年3月之前向执行委员会提交一份报告，概述房屋建造的具体规定。

投票结果显示，市长庄德利无需使用安省最近授予的“强势市长”权力。该权力允许市长在仅有三分之一议员支持的情况下，通过与住房相关的规章制度，并否决被认为阻碍新住房建设的决定。

​在周三的市议会辩论之前，庄德利表示，加拿大未来几年迎来的许多新移民将在多伦多定居，确保为他们提供住房是多市的责任。
