From Pennsylvania to Texas, Ohio to Michigan, capitol buildings saw increased security, with National Guard and military members stationed outside less than two weeks since pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6.
Ohio saw one of the larger demonstrations, with several people carrying long guns outside the Statehouse.
More than a third of state governors had called out the National Guard to help protect their state capitols and aid local law enforcement officers, with some issuing states of emergency. Some capitol buildings have also been closed to the public until after the inauguration of Joe Biden on Wednesday.
