- Death toll: The novel coronavirus has killed at least 2,800 people worldwide, the vast majority in mainland China.
- Global spread: There have been more than 82,000 global cases with infections in every continent except Antarctica. New outbreak clusters are sparking alarm and emergency measures in the Middle East and Europe.
- More new cases outside China: For the first time, the number of new cases reported outside of China in one day was larger than those reported inside China, the WHO said Wednesday.
- South Korea spike: There are now more than 1,700 cases in South Korea. Joint US-South Korea military drills have been postponed after soldiers contracted the virus, and the US is advising people to reconsider travel plans to the country.
